Company’s fifth issued patent protects word-based proximity queries, strengthens core speech analytics with increased search relevance

The patent—covering time and word-based proximity in audio search—strengthens Nexidia’s reputation as a technology innovator and showcases its ability to deliver truly relevant and meaningful insights through its flagship Enterprise Speech Intelligence (ESI) analytics application.
The new patent encompasses a core part of ESI’s phonetic-based search and analysis capabilities, which enable the application to significantly boost audio search relevance compared to traditional keyword spotting and speech-to-text techniques. This is a key element of Nexidia’s unique query language, which drives the core practice of segmenting contact center audio data out by “call drivers” to generate business, customer, and operational intelligence.
Specifically, the patent covers the process of employing word and time-based relationships between audio search terms. The method enables audio search queries to narrow the range of results and boost search relevance by employing Boolean operators such as “AND” and “OR” with additional time and word-based proximity constraints to better capture the temporal flow of spoken language. Although the method has been part of Nexidia’s core technology for years, the patent—awarded as patent #7,406,415—ensures that the company can leverage this capability across all its speech analytic solutions.
